Del Osbourne Member at Woodland Christian Church Lexington, Kentucky

Del Osbourne

Del Osborne and her beloved husband, Landon “Gay” Osborne, have had a close and dedicated relationship with Woodland.  Gay died two years ago and is remembered fondly.  Gay and Del have been active in almost all aspects of the congregation, serving as deacons, elders, chairs of committees, and active members of one of the adult Sunday school classes.  Besides Sunday school, Del continues to be active in the women’s group, “Open Circle”.

Del and Gay first met in a Sunday school class in 1946 at a Baptist church in Lexington.  In 1947 while Del was a student at Transylvania College and Gay was home from Europe after serving during World War II, they met again at a Valentine Dance at the college, began dating and were married. Del has two daughters, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

After the girls were in high school, Del worked as a receptionist at Immanuel Baptist Church and then at the Regional Office of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Her hobbies include crochet and cross stitch.

Del and Gay came to Woodland in the early 1960s when they were looking for a church that welcomed discussions and questions.  Both of their daughters grew up in Woodland.  One is now an ordained Disciples minister.  Del’s favorite things about Woodland Christian Church are that it is friendly and compassionate.  She has gotten “lots of hugs that help get me through tough times”.
