Sunday Worship

Our worship service begins at 10:45am in the Sanctuary.  Please feel free to sit anywhere in the sanctuary.

During worship service, we join heart and mind together in praise to God with prayer, scripture, sermon, traditional and contemporary hymns, choir and instrumental music.

Celebrating the Lord’s Supper (communion) is a central part of every Disciples worship service each week.  There are no conditions on receiving the bread and cup – all are invited to partake in this meal of thanksgiving.

Each Sunday we have a Children’s Moment when children are invited to come forward for a brief sharing.  After the Children’s Moment, they may return to the pews or go to Worship and Wonder (preschool-1st grade) or Children’s Church (2nd-4th grade). Nursery care is also available.

For more information about our church, contact Rev. Dalene Vasbinder at pastor@woodlandchristianlex.org or call 859-266-3416.

"Bless to Mee" Fall Worship Series
September 17 - October 15

It's one of those Christian words, isn't it? What exactly do we mean when we say that we're 'blessed'? Does God favor us? Do we interchange it with 'lucky'?

In Beth Richardson's book, "Christ Beside Me, Christ Within Me: Celtic Blessings" she writes about the expanded understanding of 'blessing' of the Celts (those who have inhabited the islands of Ireland and Britain since prehistoric times):

Celtic Christians acknowledged God's presence in Every aspect of living - from waking to sleeping, from birth to death, from mundane chores to momentous celebrations. They perceived God's creation as a holy gift. So 'blessings' can be understood as the very stuff of life, not something necessarily favored, good, special or extraordinary - but all of life as a gift.

Inspired by Richardson's book and using resources from Marcia McFee's Worship Design Studio, for five weeks this fall we will explore the gift of blessings.

CHILDREN IN THE PEW ...
WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

"whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me." Luke 9:48

At Woodland Christian Church . . .

familyChildren are welcome and encouraged to be in worship.

Bringing children into the sanctuary is something like having them eat at the dinner table: even though their manners can be far from elegant, it's done in the hope they are a valued and important part of the family.

Children giggle, poke, and swing their legs simply because they are children. But, they also sing, pray, and give with us.

After the Children's Moment . . .

wwChildren ages 3-6 may attend Worship and Wonder upstairs. Parents are welcome to go with their child, especially if it is the child's first time. All parents/caregivers should meet them after worship outside the room.

kidsChildren in 2nd - 4th grades may attend Children's Church located across the hall from the sanctuary entrance.

nurseryWe are pleased to offer Nursery Care on the third floor for infants and toddlers.
