The Community Relations Board at the Federal Prison in Lexington is requesting donations of yarn, fabric, batting, fiberfil, elastic, thread, needles, quilting supplies and any sewing notions. Inmates volunteer their time to create usable items such as clothing, toys, nursing home needs, and many other desperately needed “gifts.” Recycled plastic grocery bags are cleverly woven into sleeping mats for the homeless.
In the past year, over 30,000 gifts were delivered to those in need through charitable agencies in Lexington. This program benefits all who are involved. Please consider us when you clean out your cupboards and remember the good you can do with what you have. Monetary donations are appreciated to pay for necessities like sewing machine repair and to supplement donated materials. For more information, visit www.crbles.org.
